Welcome everyone! It’s me, The Shabby Crab, aka Donna Byrd, the creator of this new adventure. I live in Sneads Ferry, NC, on the mainland side of Topsail Island, on the very eastern edge of the North American continent. (That always freaks me out a little when I think about it like that!) And...I can't help but smile when I think about where I live because, in my heart of hearts, I always wanted to live by the windswept sea, (yes, I'm that dramatic) where all my troubles seem small in comparison to that big, ancient ocean and that mightly wind that seems to blow all the time. God must have heard my prayer and granted my plea, because, gratefully, here I am! 

For years, I have collected shells and other sea treasures on countless walks up and down Topsail Island. After looking at all my "loot," I decided it was time to give my treasures another life by recycling them into something beautiful and entirely different. I began decoupaging oysters and scallop shells. I thought they were so pretty, I began giving them out as Christmas and birthday gifts for my friends and family. To my surprise, they all got the biggest kick out of them! They loved getting them as much as I loved making them! "You should make these and sell them," they said. Of course, that inspired me to make even more.

After the new year, I decided I would continue to make the ornaments and add to my growing collection, hoping to open an online ornament shop for this Christmas season. And just so you know, all of the ornaments are not for Christmas. Many of them are beautiful throughout the year. So, ready or not, here I am, only a few weeks late. Please come in and take a look at all my pretty, little things. In opening this online store, I think I've recycled myself! How did that even happen? Haha Enjoy looking around!
